EUSR Success for DTG

One of our service engineers has become the fifth member of staff at the company to successfully join the Energy and Utilities Skills Register (EUSR) following the completion of his training and exam for ‘Basic Electrical Safety Competence for Access, Movement & Egress’ with substation endorsement.

The Access, Movement & Egress registration scheme is intended for all persons who will be required to carry out duties on or near operational plant and equipment in an environment where the transmission and distribution of electricity is taking place. The scheme standards cover the basic requirements for safely entering, moving around and exiting work areas in electrical environments.

George Hobbins, Health and Safety Manager at DTG, said: “EUSR’s processes and quality standards have been identified by the HSE as exemplary. The training and record keeping is recognised as best practice by employers and governing bodies, and therefore helps us to benchmark skills and ensures the service levels we provide to our customers meet the required industry standards.

Three further DTG service engineers are due to join the EUSR very soon, taking the total number of registered employees to eight.
EUSR is an independent skills platform which provides recognised standards for the utility sector. It is operated by Energy & Utility Skills, the sector skills body for the gas, power, waste management and water industries. EUSR is designed to support industry employers and add value to the sector.

Individuals who qualify for registration with EUSR are issued with a card and appear on the EUSR website – EUSR is beneficial to both employers and individuals as they move between companies or between industries. Employers have a robust way of verifying the abilities of their workers while individuals have a recognised method of demonstrating their abilities.
