We have appointed oil and gas expert Jim Sweeney to develop our capability to provide project-specific generators for offshore, marine and windfarm applications as well as other classified hazardous areas.
He joins DTGen as a Project Manager and will also provide support to our existing projects and operational teams.
Jim said: “I have known and been aware of the continued growth and ongoing success of DTGen for many years and this is a really exciting opportunity for me. Working together with the wider team of technical experts here, combining our complementary skills and experience, will undoubtedly make us stronger together.”
Paul Moore, DTGen Managing Director, added: “We already have some ambitious joint opportunities on the table, and we’re looking forward to Jim being part of our team bringing new and innovative ideas to the market.”
For the past fifteen years, Jim has operated his own business, Gen Ex Design, which specialises in the design and supply of bespoke generators for these industries. In tandem, he was a Director at Hazhire, a business set up to specifically target the needs of the hazardous area power generation rental market. Prior to launching Gen Ex, Jim ran the projects division at kVA, which was latterly acquired by NOV.
During his time at Gen Ex Design, Jim delivered bespoke rig safe and hazardous area standby power solutions to clients globally, including the Akçakoca natural gas drilling and wellhead platform in the Western Black Sea; for Total on USAN FPSO in Korea; multiple rig safe offshore applications for Schlumberger; upstream platforms in Singapore; mobile rental applications for Transenergia in Malaysia; on the North Sea’s Babbage platform; as well as a marine solution for the first ever offshore reactive compensation station (RCS) at Ørsted’s Hornsea Project One, which once complete in 2020, will be the biggest offshore windfarm in the world.
Current and existing Gen Ex Design bids and on-going projects will be supported by DTGen moving forward.
James will be based at our Glasgow HQ and can be reached on 0141 956 7764 or jim.sweeney@dtgen.co.uk
