Daniel Coll, one of our third-year apprentices, has made it through to the National Qualifier stage of the SkillELECTRIC 2023 competition.
SkillELECTRIC is the search for the UK’s best young electrician and the premier skills competition for the UK’s electrical industry. Each year, the best electrical students and apprentices from across the UK compete to win a place in the competition’s grand final.
Daniel has successfully made it through the entry stage, which involved competitors completing a series of online, timed, interactive tasks. The tasks included a safe isolation exercise, documenting a material list for the installation provided on the day, a knowledge section comprised of 23 questions, and finally a testing exercise. Only those with the top scores successfully make it through to the national qualifying heats.
John Skinner, Head of Operations at DTGen, said: “This is great news, not just for Daniel, but for the whole apprenticeship programme at DTGen – it demonstrates that our people are actively learning and developing strong skills to take forwards in their careers. Congratulations Daniel!”
The national qualifying heats will take place across the country between the end of April and June, and finalists will go on to participate in the UK National Final in November.
