Quantity Surveyor

Location

Glasgow

We are seeking a quantity surveyor to provide commercial support to the project team, maintaining commercial information and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements. This person will liaise with customer representatives and other third parties on commercial issues. 

Key Responsibilities:

Contracts

  • Appraise commercial contracts and assess risks.
  • Carry out contractual negotiations and finalise terms including payment milestones, adequacy of programme, retention clauses, limitations of liability and damages, retention of title, insurance provisions and performance bonds, parent company guarantees and collateral warranties.
  • Carry out commercial function on major contracts and sub-contracts including assisting project manager with interim valuations and final accounts. Issue all contractual correspondence and notices and the preparation and issue of variations and price back-up information including the maintenance of variation registers where required. Attend meetings with customers representative to resolve any commercial issues which may arise

 Reporting

  • Ensure robust, accurate and timely cost and value reporting at both project and business unit level
  • Ensure accurate cash flow reporting takes place
  • Carry out cost management including forecasting
  • Update the monthly CVR, cost and commercial plans and have accountability, along with the project team for the commercial performance and strategy

 Processes

  • Help ensure that commercial processes are adhered to across the business unit
  • Actively seek to improve processes and procedures

 External relationships

  • Ensure that any main contracts entered into have terms and conditions that are appropriate for DTGen, with commercial risks identified
  • Ensure that the supply chain is engaged appropriately with the correct contract terms and conditions
  • Ensure that good client relationships are fostered and be responsible for subcontract letting, negotiation and financial accounting

 Internal relationships

  • Ensure effective interaction between the commercial team and the operational site teams

 Person specification

  • The successful candidate is likely to meet all of the following criteria:

 Essential

  • HND/degree in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent
  • Previous experience within the construction industry preferably from a mechanical and electrical background
  • Familiarity with ICE/NEC forms of contract and knowledge of current construction Law
  • Extensive experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors, including chairing regular meetings, measurement and control cycle, certificates and accruals calculations
  • Ability to demonstrate a good knowledge of monthly reporting and earned value analysis
  • Excellent team player whilst also holding the ability to work independently using own initiative
  • Excellent time management skills, with ability to work to tight deadlines

Desirable

  • Member of RICS or other relevant professional body, or working towards CSCS card

Generator Field Service Engineer

Location

Scotland, Midlands, Northern England

Due to continued growth and investment, we are looking for home based experienced diesel generator service engineers.

Role Description:
Based remotely, you will be required to carry out planned servicing, repair, upgrades and breakdown response work at customer sites on generators from 10kVA – 2500kVA.

Primary Tasks:
- Maintenance on generators to include all relevant electrical and mechanical testing
- Fault diagnosis and rectification
- Installation of temporary generators
- Load bank towing and testing
- Participation in the company on call rota
- Complete and submit accurate reports in a timely manner
- Assisting with installations and commissioning
- Site surveys to assist project sales
- Control system wiring

Qualifications:
- Served a recognised apprenticeship as a mechanical/electrical engineer
- Electrical engineering IEE regs - 17th Edition (beneficial)
- Part P (beneficial)
- The ideal candidate will an experienced generator field service engineer with past exposure to FG Wilson, Perkins or similar brands

You will have:
- Strong knowledge of all electrical and mechanical aspects of generator power installations
- First class customer facing skills
- Good communication skills
- No criminal record
- Flexibility to meet requirements of service operations.
- Relevant experience in a similar role

CHP Field Service Engineer

Location

Scotland, Midlands, Northern England

Due to continued growth and portfolio expansion, we are looking for home and HQ based (Glasgow) experienced CHP service engineers.

Role Description:

You will be required to carry out planned maintenance, remedials, upgrades and breakdown response work at customer sites on CHP Generators from 20KW to 4000KW.

Primary Tasks:

  • Maintenance on CHP generators to include all relevant electrical and mechanical testing
  • Fault diagnosis and rectification
  • Participation in the company on call rota
  • Complete and submit accurate reports in a timely manner
  • Assisting with installations and commissioning
  • Site surveys to assist project sales
  • Control system wiring

Qualifications:

  • Served a recognised apprentice as a Mechanical engineering/Electrical engineering
  • Electrical engineering IEE regs - 17th Edition (beneficial)
  • Part P (beneficial).
  • Hold a Gas Safe Register accreditation card.
  • The ideal candidate will an experienced CHP field service engineer.

You will have:

  • Strong knowledge of all electrical and mechanical aspects of CHP generator power installations
  • First class customer facing skills
  • Good communication skills
  • The successful candidate will be subject to criminal record checks and Disclosure Scotland checks if   applicable
  • Flexibility to meet requirements of service operations
  • Relevant experience in CHP industry
